About Us

Humble Beginnings

The Town of Crowley was incorporated in February 1951 and is located in southern Tarrant County. In September 1972, the town council voted to change Crowley's designation from a town to a city.  Today, the City of Crowley has a population of 20,483 with an annual growth rate of 4.98% since 2010.

The Crowley Police Department was formed on Jan. 19, 1961.  The department began with one police officer, one patrol car, and one radio operating out of a small office in City Hall.  As the city grew, the police department moved into a 6,700-square-foot building located at 201 South Texas Street.  The department consisted of 12 police officers, 4 telecommunications officers, and one support staff personnel.

Today, the police department employs 50 members and 15 volunteers. It operates from a 22,000-square-foot building located at 617 West Business FM 1187, which includes a jail that can house up to 26 detainees.
